Unknown Radio is an internet radio station broadcasting using Nullsoft's SHOUTcast streaming mp3 technology.  It is dedicated to giving independent musicians an outlet for their art.  It has no ties to any large company, nor does it play any music from any major lables.

The format at UKR is simple -- todays' best indie music.   UKR's innovative programing is filled with great indie music ranging from folk to hard rock and everything in between -- even indie rock.

Unknown Radio's playlist is growing weekly adding more and more great music you've probalby never heard. Since its inception, UKR's listenership has grown 500%, mainly because of iTunes picking up the station. UKR regularly has 1600-2200 unique listeners every week. The playlist consists of music from artists from all over the world -- from the US to Germany to New Zealand.

SHOUTcast streaming is a simple format that allows a user to netcast mp3 files to an audience. Unknown Radio uses Spacial Audio's SAM4 broadcasting program which allows for fully automated broadcasting and very powerful live broadcasting. The audio signal is then sent to UKR's servers running the SHOUTcast DNAS server software (currently located in the UK and in California. Listeners then connect to the servers and listen to the audio signal.
